Abortion Law Research Paper
OVERVIEW
The purpose of this project is to synthesize the student’s understanding of law and ethics and their relationship to each other while applying academic understanding to practice.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
You will select a piece of legislation (see below) that directly impacts healthcare and conduct a historical and content analysis of the law, discussing the ethical basis that forms the law’s foundation. You will evaluate the impact of the legislation on a particular workplace: your workplace, a workplace with which you are familiar, or one you have researched. Finally you will create recommendations for compliance in this workplace that take into account the interrelationships and roles of various healthcare providers and organizations in and impacting the workplace.
Students should select their topic by the end of Week 10 of the course. If you do not select from among the choices in the list below, be sure to obtain mentor approval before starting work. [CO1, CO2, CO3, CO4, CO5, CO6] [HCM-5] [HCM-6]
PROCESS
The following are the basic steps in completing this project:
Choose any law or area of law we have covered in this course (see list of suggestions that follows).
Describe the law (or area of law) and how it guides or impacts the workplace. Conduct a historical and content analysis of the law.
Explain the ethical basis for the law (e.g., Why is this law needed? What ethical demands does it fulfill?).
Evaluate how this law impacts a particular workplace: your workplace, a workplace with which you are familiar, or one you have researched.
Create recommendations for compliance in this workplace. (You might write as if you are giving advice to management.)
Make sure to consider the interrelationships and roles of the various healthcare providers and organizations and how the quality of these interrelationships affects the successful achievement of outcomes.
