Yes, it is justified because it helped save more people’s lives. When the world’s safety is at stake, it is not war mentality to consider saving the lives of innocent people
America came into WW11 after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941, and the war between Japan and the USA ended when the atomic bombs were dropped in 1945. Japan had a very strong army. The Japanese troops believed it was honorable to die for one’s country and made use of Kamikaze pilots as one of their war tactics. The use of the Kamikaze pilots by Japan caused extensive damage to America’s seagoing forces, and because death was glorified, the American troops had no means to fight them. There had already been over 3 500 Kamikaze raids which had caused great damage to the American pacific fleet
The atomic bombings make perfect ethical sense when compared to a land invasion of Japan. On the other hand, a fight to the death against a suicidal opponent with the potential to kill millions. Without the atomic bombs, the war would have prolonged the conflict and resulted in many more allied losses.
Yes, it would have been justified to drop an atomic bomb on Germany.
the Germans were ahead in the race for the nuclear bomb. They had a substantial water plant, high-uranium mixes, skilled researchers and engineers, and the best concoction building industry on the planet. If Germany had finished the project, it would have been a disaster to the world because of the leading ideology of the Nazis at that time.
Also, it would have saved so many more lives if the U.S had dropped an atomic bomb on Germany which would have put an end to WW11. With fewer casualties, death, and destruction than that caused by the war. Add to that the German propaganda where on some days as many as 10,000 people were murdered in gas chambers. It is estimated that six million Jews, communists, and social outcasts were killed by the Nazi regime and its collaborators. On the other hand, if an atomic bomb was dropped it would have killed a few thousand and probably prevented the killing of millions that died due to the war and Nazi genocide.
In the end, some people would argue that the use of the atomic bomb was inhuman. I would argue that all wars are inhuman.

I am anti-war, so in my eye there is rarely any justification for dropping an atomic bomb on another country. Due to the fact that there is the risk of putting civilians in danger. However, I am clear on the fact that this was done as retaliation. So, I do not condone nor shame it. During World War 2, Germany participated in an extreme act of violence via the holocaust. For lack of a better term, I understand why FDR would consider taking Germany and its leaders down a peg. Hitlers rule on Germany was horrific and it is obvious that he needed to be challenged
