Corporate Communication Function.
“The definition of corporate behavior is dynamic, changing with evolving cultural values and external conditions with which corporations must stay in tune” (Averin, A. (Ed.). (2021). As an external consultant to Earl’s leadership, I will initially team up with both parties involved (Community and restaurant leadership) to identify the primary characteristics that cause the breakdown of effective Communication at Earl’s restaurant. After the consultation with all the parties involved, I can formulate a plan to find a remedy. Most importantly, I will emphasize to Earl’s leadership that in this 21st century, effective Communication in business is critical and depends on several factors. A decision to prioritize community engagement will help demonstrate Earl’s focus on addressing the community concerns, not just good publicity, compliance, or meeting the bottom line (Funder et al., 2021, p.5).
According to research, Earls’ Restaurant leadership switched to ” humane beef ” without clearly communicating their proposed plan with the local community and customers about his new business idea. If Earls’ administration had employed a different communication Through robust ” relational connectivity, ” Earls would have had a way of responding to the community’s needs, interests, and expectations ” (Brennan & Merkl – Davies, 2018, p.569). Due to Earl’s leadership’s lack of effective communication with the community residents/customers, there was a communication problem between leadership and the local community, affecting the restaurant’s daily operations.
Being the external consultant, I will inform Earl’s leadership that Communicating every new business strategy in the future with the community is highly imperative. For this reason, Earls’ CEO must remain involved in developing consistent and strategic communications with its constituents, internally and externally (Averin, 2021, p.76). Earl’s leadership team must listen attentively to the community residents and discuss their complaints, suggestions, and recommendations. Earl’s leadership should understand and process their grievances and make final decisions.
Also, the leadership at Earl’s Restaurant must realize that to operate a successful Restaurant business, clear and compelling Communication with customers and the local community residents is one of the primary foundations of a successful business. Furthermore, in the 21st-century complex evolving business environment, with hundreds of different communication tools and multicultural communities, effective Communication has never been more critical or challenging to every business’s success story. Thus, communicating might be Earl’s most vital leadership skill. Earl’s administration must implement the above suggestions to avoid another communication breakdown. “When both sides communicate and try to understand each other, there is an opportunity to influence the other side’s “decision-making and behavior ” (Brennan & Merkl – Davies, 2018, p.558).
Biblical Perspective:
In the Bible, we noticed that poor Communication is often a foundation of conflict and a bottleneck for growth. Whether the Communication is between leaders and communities or pastors and congregations, being unable to share and interpret information effectively has led to a rampant generation gap, low morale, and declining relationships. The book of Exodus narrates that after Joshua’s death, Israel soon entered a period where they lacked consistent leadership (Judges 2:18-19). Leaders may not often think about it this way, but clear Communication is essential to effective leadership. Earl’s leadership must communicate effectively with the local community about any changes to their restaurant’s menu.
