Qualitative Worksheet Prospectus Form Essay Project
The Research Team reviewed my Prospectus and Provided some feedback. Please see their response below:
Greetings Marcia (& Dr. C),
RE: Additional/personalized feedback from the Research Department (Prospectus Form)
Hello Marcia, 🙂
Dr. Crocker and I have been in communications with the Research Department. I have had multiple/valuable communications with the Research Department in an effort to streamline and strengthen your doctoral progress.
Dr. Wilson, in the Research Department, was remarkably helpful with regard to your Prospectus. I have included her new comments below (& attached “DAT”). I added the yellow highlights and bold print (in her email, below), for your intentional consideration, please.
As mentioned by Dr. Crocker and myself, in our earliest meetings with you, Dr. Wilson (who has now read your paper a few times) shared that the easiest and most efficient path forward is to pivot to a “Project Study.” Dr. Wilson shares a compelling case for the Project Study below. I hope you will appreciate that the combined experience between Dr. Crocker, Dr. Wilson and myself — all arriving at the same conclusion. Your study has the potential to be quite strong and impressive, but the most effective/expedient path forward is through the Project Study.
Attached DAT document: In the attached DAT document, Dr. Wilson (Research Dept) has offered the extraordinary opportunity by creating/sharing a personalized and COMPLETE DAT document (Design Alignment Tool) for us. By embracing the attached DAT, you can cut/paste the Problem, Purpose, RQs directly into your Prospectus. You can shore it up with added literature, and previous PD edits noted, and embark on a much quicker road to “approval” of the Prospectus.
Please see the comments below (an attached DAT) from the Research Department. You and I can set up a time to talk soon, as well. 🙂
Kind and sincerely supportive regards, Jim Crosby 3.2.22

Subject: Re: James, Marcia DQ; Program Director Prospectus Review Completed – Revisions RequiredJim,
Thanks for sending us your specific questions. I am responding on behalf of the review team as I was involved in this review process.
As you requested, I am providing a suggested DAT to guide Marcia’s revisions to the prospectus. Please see attached. For your convenience and to ensure we are all working from the same page, I am also attaching a copy of the most recent PD prospectus review feedback upon which this suggested DAT is based.
I wanted to make the revision process as simple and straightforward as possible. I used the current evidence Marcia has from the local research setting to generate the wording of the problem statement. This way, Marcia does not need to make substantial changes to the evidence presented. I then updated the purpose and RQs to align back to the revised problem statement.
One important consideration, it was clear the bulk of the evidence provided was from the local setting (one local college). Moreover, Marcia is intending to collect data from that one local college. It was also clear that there wasn’t much current published research on this specific gap in practice or topic. As a result, it is evident that this doctoral study would be much easier to carry out as an EdD Project Study than an EdD Dissertation. The suggested DAT is written for an EdD Project Study.
In essence, the study presented in this suggested DAT reflects what Marcia’s intention seems to be in the most recent prospectus. The focus remains on the one college where Marcia designed the study to be based. The suggested [Project Study] DAT facilitates progress toward study completion with the least amount of effort.
Marcia will need to add some new current, peer-reviewed sources to support the background literature section of the prospectus. However, the evidence of the problem section will require only minor updates as long as the study type shifts to an EdD Project Study. Significantly more revision will be necessary if Marcia does not shift to the Project Study format.
I hope this is helpful. Please contact the PD review team again if further clarification is required. We look forward to seeing Marcia’s revised prospectus as soon as it is ready.
