Should we stop using or developing technology in one day?
Technology is a major part of human life to the point that people are hard to imagine their lives without machines. Every day either a new gadget is invented or an old one is improved. Different people appreciate new inventions differently. Some suppose that sophisticated gadgets are really useful and necessary, while others have a technophobe in them and find absolutely awful and dangerous for a human. As for me, I am more on the technophile side, which is pretty sure that technology is made for helping and for making easy life.
Every morning when waking up, the first thing I do is I’m taking my phone and check social media, watch some movie I’m using my iPad, do my homework I’m using my computer, listen to news or music in the car, I’d turn on a radio. Therefore very hard to see life in 2019 without technology. While people are depending on technology and I would like to say, we are more on control of technology.
The gadgets are the big word for most everyone who lives today, every day scientists are developing or improving technology for human life and trying to interact with people in exactly that way. Furthermore, the device’s achievement are doing all kinds of hard and dirty work of people, for saving time and make work easier. For example, a computer disk can contain the same amount of information as several thick books. Since a person will not even waste that much time to find exact information in the library or in other resources. It’s very interesting, that machines can help people in different spheres and not only in searching for information. According to the New York Times, by Brian X Chen “ Devices that will invade your life in 2019(and what’s overhyped)”. , he said that c
Try only imagine that we are opening our eyes in the new world, where it has the answers for difficult questions, such as a get to know a weather for all week or find a location and get direction on it, listen or watch what you want and it’s not will take a lot of time to find it, but people will have a one problem working with a device is you have to learn their language, as Frank Gillett, according to The New York Times, by Brian X. Chen said, “we still to learn their language, such as they have not learned our language”. It’s true because as many answers the technology will have, it’s not a human and it cant have logical thought, or any feeling. Therefore is harder to understanding all steps for some people because devices are not at that time where they can learn our language and think like people.
However, opponents of this point of view are definitely sure that gadgets affect people negatively. But it also depends on a person’s age, because most of them who have a technophobe is exactly that people who got a part of their life without interactions of the technology, and it’s making their knowledge and worldview in a different way. So they see in another way where is technological interaction brings only bad things for human life. People become lazy and disorganized. They just expect their latest gadgets to do everything instead of them. Furthermore, more and more people are becoming addicted to their modern gadgets, for instance, computers, TVs or mobile phones. While the people are making their rules, knows their close actions and future, where technology will d all of their work. According to the article ”The judgment of Thamus” , it says“it should surprise no one that such people, forming as they do a new knowledge monopoly, should cheer themselves and defend and promote television technology. On the other hand and in the long run , television may bring a gradual end to the career of schoolteachers , since school was an invention of the printing press and must stand or fall on the issue of how much importance the printed word has”, so devices will take the major place in some careers and will cut a labors, for example like a teachers . Since a student will be able to stay at home and learn all the information on the internet or other resources and do it online. In addition, technologies confront each other in an uncompromising aspect for the control of students’ minds, “ on the one hand, there is the world of the printed word with its emphasis on logic, sequence, history, exposition, objectivity, detachment, and discipline. On the other, other is the world of television with its emphasis on imagery, narrative presentness, simultaneity, intimacy, immediate, gratification, and quick emotional response.” by the article ” The Judgement of Thamus”. Instead of it, people can say that students will be more dependent on technology as morally and emotional because they are growing in that sphere and will not see their future without it.
Also, the speed with which modern technologies develop and our attempts to catch up makes our life more stressful. We have become more isolated, as more and more people replace real relationships with social media ones. We virtually don’t need to go out to satisfy our basic needs like foods, medicine and etc.
The most interesting thing is a modern person can’t live long without the use of these technologies in our life, we became so dependent on them, sometimes it’s scary to imagine how we would manage, for example, without the Internet, a telephone or a TV. These things have become an integral part of the life of any person. And no one can say good or bad, everyone has his own opinion on this matter. But looking at all this, I believe that new generation is understanding that modern technology used for the benefit and definite purpose for ourselves, and then we can say that new technologies are always good for the modern person.
What is your attitude towardnew technologies? Are you, as Neil Postman puts it in “The Judgment of Thamus,” a “Technophile” or “Technophobe”?
