Speech Communication Discussion Essay Paper
Discussion boards acts as a way for us to engage in reflection about the readings and activities we have completed for this week to enhance your understanding of the concepts we are studying. Please consider using the free one week trial of McGraw Hill Connect for access to Week 1 textbook chapters if your textbook has not yet arrived.
Please log into the class and take part in the weekly discussions frequently to show your participation.
Three (3) posts are required:
Post 1 (minimum 250 words) answers 1 of the 4 questions asked and is due before Thursday,
Reply 1 (minimum 150 words) to one your classmates’ comments and is due by Sunday,
Reply 2 (minimum 150 words) to one of your classmates’ comments and is due by Sunday.
You may choose any question to answer, but will need to respond to peers in two other threads. Each time you sign on, here is what you are to do:
Read all the posts. First and foremost, this is a discussion. It is a conversation among members of the class. In order for it to be such, you have to read what others post.
If you wish to comment on the same topic, you click “Reply” at the bottom of a classmate’s post and begin your post. You should not just repeat the same thing the earlier poster said. Instead, aim to continue the conversation, bringing in new material from the book, other sources, and your personal experience.
You are required to post at least three (3) times during the week and each of these posts needs to be a significant contribution to the conversation.
The posts should say something.
They should expand the conversation and integrate course readings or other resources.
They should pose thoughtful and interesting contributions to a continued discussion. In other words, agreeing with and repeating what the prior student posted does not count 🙂
The other thing that does not count is if you don’t read what others post and simply start a new thread and say the same thing others have already posted.
