Suburban Homes Construction Project Quality Management Plan
(QMP)
The process of quality management plan focuses in the customer satisfaction on the project that is being undertaken. This includes all the activities that the management undertakes in determination of quality standards, quality policies and responsibilities and eventually implementing them, which calls for quality in everything. Additionally, the system for quality management is defined by the preference of the customer and the specific quality needed or what they can afford in some cases about the construction materials and designs. In this paper, there is a detailed documentation of the quality project management plan of the construction of suburban homes. It is important to note that this project quality management is created during the planning phase of the project. Therefore, the main audience that is focused on this plan are the project managers, the project team, and sponsors as well as any senior leaders who are needed to support the plan.
Project quality management overview
According to Atkinson (2019), Quality standards that need to be used in the project need to be set before the project commences because these are the baseline qualities that will be compared to the actual quality attained during and after the project completion. If the standards of the actual constructions meet the originally written qualities, then the project will be deemed to be good, however, if there is some deviation from the expected qualities, it will call for improvement. The quality standards, for the suburban home constructions include:
- raw materials like woods, bricks, metal, cement, sand and other materials that should be of high qualities
- The exterior of the houses should be strong enough to withstand all weather conditions and last for longer periods of time without defections.
- The interior of the houses like the doors, walls, furniture, kitchen should have quality furnishing. The roof should be waterproof and shock proof electricity. The floor should be uniformly balanced, weather it is tiled, wooden or just cement depending on the customer preferences.
These are simply some of the quality standards among many that need to be set prior to the start of the construction project for the suburban homes.
Quality objectives of the project
This project should have quality objectives and they are listed below
- There needs to be specifications about defects in the residential constructions. In this regard, there should be no forms of defects after the project has been officially finished.
- After the construction, the resident houses should be durable. In this regard, they are expected to last longer for several years without any complains from the occupants, withstanding all external conditions apart from earthquakes and other natural disasters.
- In the residential house construction, safety should the most prioritized objective.
- Timeliness should also be observed, meaning the project needs to be completed within a given timeframe as per the agreement with the customer.
Quality roles and responsibilities
In this section, there needs to be a label of the project participants and each with their roles and responsibilities within the project (Gould & Joyce, 2013). this can be in the form of points or tabular format.
Name Role Quality Responsibility [John Doe] Project Manager Quality mentoring & coaching [Jane Doe] Team Lead Quality audits <Name> <Role> <Responsibility> There is also a need to mention their responsibilities so that each individuals knows what they are tasked within the project progress and ensure that whatever section they handle, they do it perfectly. Some of the responsibilities that need to be mentioned include:
- The project manager to come up with a plan including the communication methods to the teams and other departments like marketing, HR and finance.
- The responsibility of the project manager should also be to inspect, monitor and measure the performance and check the quality being delivered if it meets the basic quality.
- The project team members have the responsibility of carrying out every task that they have been tasked within the plan.
- The project team members need maintain the expected high quality work.
Project deliverables and processes subject to quality review
This section involves checking the quality of the deliverables. They are measured after the project has been accomplished and a comparison is made to the initially set quality objectives. In this regard, the residential houses that have been constructed need to be on the same level or higher than the quality set initially (Gould & Joyce, 2013). The quality team measures this quality by making an analytical comparison off the standard and actual quality as it has been obtained.
Quality control and quality management project activities
In this section, there are several actions that need to be performed. There is need to identify the individuals monitoring and controlling actions that need to be conducted when controlling the quality of the project’s life. it also involves the definition of how it will be determined that the quality standards off the project comply with initially set qualities. Check any kind of defect or failure in the project. if any defects have been detected, there is also a need to provide suggestions or proper solutions to the identified defects so that quality is improved.
Quality standards associated with residential construction
With regard to Rose, K. (2005), once a team has been formed, there will be a definition of the main tasks and responsibilities of each team member of the project. the responsibilities will include to reviewing the tools, products and services as per the preset expectation. The very team takes the step of defining the plans for the quality assurance. This heavily depends on the nature of the construction company but the details of the plans might change with regard to the preferences of the customer and the nature of the resident houses being constructed. Mostly, the list generated include the quality objectives, definition of the verifications and test activities processes evaluation and the definition of individual responsibilities. And this means that the team must conform to the plans that have been set to ensure that the produced residential houses are of the assured quality. When the team starts the project evaluation process, the quality assurance resources can be acquired and the tools need to be identified as per the residential houses model and size. It is also important for every person involved in the project to have the necessary skills and experiences to work on the project without struggling. Training is essential, even if it is for a brief time so that all team members get a picture of what is going on or what is required so that there is no complications and confusion during the implementation of the project.
